Where did the NFL Fantasy Football Link go?

I am done. I was eliminated from the playoffs in my league. Here is a note for people contemplating playing fantasy football. Don't pay to play in a league that is advertised as for serious players only. They will show up, and they will play.

That is why I don't run a Linux box without a firewall and I don't ride a Honda to a biker bar. I don't like having my ass handed to me. I only play games I have a chance of winning.

I finally finished it - Dark Tower 7

All those years... I waited. I am still trying to grok the ending. When something takes 30 years to write, it takes more than one day to digest.

I drug my feet when reading the last 300 pages. I must admit that I did not want it to end. But I knew that it had to conclude. So I hunkered down and finised it off last night.

I know that anyone reading this falls into 1 of 2 categories, you have read the dark tower series, or you will never read the series. It is one of those works that you must read from beginning to end. You cannot jump into the last book and understand the work as a whole.

I will not give spoilers or talk about plot points here. If you would like to talk about this story, just send me email. I have a lot to talk about when it comes to this work, but will not risk giving an accidental spoiler to someone else who is dragging their feet while reading as I did.

I will say thank you to my friends who finished already and have managed to not say anything. Now we can talk. Starbucks anyone?

Activists Dominate Content Complaints

Activists Dominate Content Complaints

This is an amazing statistic. Through early October, 99.9 percent of indecency complaints—aside from those concerning the Janet Jackson “wardrobe malfunction” during the Super Bowl halftime show broadcast on CBS— were brought by the PTC

Draw your own conclusions here. But if you can't see this is censorship and abuse of the system by a dedicated batch of fanatics, then you need to have you mental acuity tested. You may need a legal guardian.

My first $199 Walmart Linux box may be reaching end of life

It is a sad day at the Nerd ranch. The First $199 Linux box that I purchased 2 years ago may be reaching end of life. Sunday night, during the Simpsons a noise was detected from the nerd cave. Upon some investigation I had to shut down the web server and the noise stopped.

It sounds like the power supply fan, but I have not torn the case open yet. I am hoping it is the lighted LED fan and I can just take it out. We shall see. For now my personal web server is down until I diagnose the problem.
