Cell Phone Tower Search
This is way cool. It also explains why my cell phones don't work at my house. There are no towers nearby.

Are Gwinnett County Police Trained in Traffic Direction?
On my way home yesterday traffic was horribly nasty. The interstate has a bad backup that slowed things down for more than 10 miles, but the real problems started when I left the interstate and got on the surface streets.
I knew I was in trouble once I say green traffic lights and a line of cars not moving. The problem was that I was committed to the road and could not leave. A distance that normally takes 5 minutes to travel took over 30 minutes.
As I crawled toward a main cross road I knew the problem. No power to the traffic signals. Most people don't know to treat an unpowered traffic light as a 4 way stop.
This was compounded by not one but two Gwinnett County police officers in their cars sitting to the side of the intersection and just staring.
Every driver at the intersection looked over at them expecting them to enter the intersection and control the mess that was traffic. By the title you can guess that they didn't bother to move from their nice safe location.
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't walk out into an intersection with Atlanta Drivers, but then again I am not trained or paid to do so. I supposes there was more to the situation than I could see but the power had been out for hours. You would think they could have done something.

So whacking the heads off of girls in bikini's on rollerblades wasn't worth getting upset about. Let someone simulate sex and we have to stop it. What the hell is wrong with this woman? She wants to be president. Might be president and she is purely pandering. Weren't there reports that she was amused by condoms on a white house Christmas tree? I forget which book claiming to be from inside the white house that came from and I don't want to waste the time to research it. You, dear reader, are welcome to do sp.
Guess when you want to be president you suddenly think some things are bad. Like drugs and sex. Of course when you aren't in office you can do what you like. Read into that last statement anything you wish.
I would like to actually have a presidentail candidate who is speaking their mind, rather than what they think the majority of voters want to hear.

Battlestar Galactica hits a home run again.
5 minutes before it started I was sitting and thinking that there is no way they could top episode 101, "33" with episode 201, "Scattered." I was happy that they were up to the task and managed to equal their performance.
They managed to string together what felt like dozens of story lines in just 42 minutes and provide a story that was able to stand on it's own.
Again, they managed to introduce some science but they did not dwell on details. We loyal fans know that the other battlestars were destroyed because of their networked systems. Galactica survived because it has no network. That was established in the mini series. They did not insult our memories or waste valuable story time by telling us again.
When it was over I was sitting more. Way to go guys. Like a good movie I have been thinking about the story for 2 days. So much so I had to take the time to sit and write this.

Broken Water Line
While taking pictures of the Trailer Trash Trailer I heard rushing water. Looking around the front yard had raised up and was pouring forth water.
It is funny you always see broken water lines, but never actualy see one as it breaks.
The county showed up when called and presumably they are still there. The water is off in that part of the neighborhood for a good 5 or 6 hours.

RealTrailerTrash
Some "Real" Trailer Trash. This is a local business who brings a trailer to your home so you can load it with, you guessed it, trash.

The Kyoto Treaty is an attempt at a world tax.
I need to gather some more information so take this with a grain of salt, it is gathered from my experiences and perceptions of events not hard evidence. If presented with hard evidence to the contrary of any of this I will reconsider any opinions here. I will also promise to do so here and admit any mistakes or misconceptions I hold.
The fact that the science is inconclusive at best or leaning to the contrary on whether global warming is occurring at all. I have heard a number of 1 degree of temperature increase over the last century. This coincides with the greatest increase in agricultural production in human history. Coincidence? Or course not, but there was a little technology helping there too.
Since we are not sure that anything is happening or if something is happening it is even a bad thing then why are we ready to "cripple" the economy of the 1st world while allowing the developing world economies to do whatever they want with impunity.
The answer is simple. When you look at the whole idea of trading pollution credits. You know that old adage, "follow the money." Well it seems to apply here as well.
Countries that have no industry or need of their credit can sell them to those that need it. Well the pollution limits are set such that US will not be able to operate without purchasing credits from other nations.
This is wealth re-distribution from the wealthy to the poor with no benefit. Sounds like taxation without representation. The fact is that we will not lower output to match the Kyoto Accords. We can't. They actually get lower over time. We will have to buy more.
China, the fastest growing polluter in the world will not have to slow down at all. They have no incentive to curb their output of pollutants. They have yet to show any interest in the welfare of their citizens, just controlling them. Early deaths from a horrible environment would probably help them control population. That was harsh, but they need to recognize human rights before the Chinese government get mad at me for that one.
Oh, I just realized that this blog will be blocked by Chinese censors. Darn, my mouthing off has cost me access to 2 billion people. So be it.
The Kyoto Treaty is typical of most things springing from the ECO left. They are not environmentalists, they are socialists who hate corporations. I have some bad news for you guys. Most of you earn your living from corporations. Oh, sorry. Your parents earned their living from corporations.
You get to have you little shakedown of corporate America to get them to donate money to your pseudo causes so they can be seen as eco friendly. Don't fool yourselves guys, this is just a cost of doing business to Corporate America. The same as bribing a politician so they can get a tax break, or a building permit. Nothing more nothing less.
Oops, I strayed from my point. Or did I?
Let me bottom line this, they may or may not be something going on with the world's environment. The Kyoto Accord appears to have been designed to slow down or permanently hurt our economy. Even if the accord is adopted it will not make any changes to the environment. It will make changes to our economy.
[Hop] I am off my soap box now.

The Skeptical Environmentalist
I am adding this to my already overloaded reading list. I have seen an interview with the author and he is indeed an environmentalist. He just does not blieve things are getting worse. He casts a pretty critical eye on the non-scientific approach of the "enviro-wackos." My word not his. Maybe it is his, I haven't read the book yet.

Save a life... got to jail. That makes sense. You see there is this thing called the internet. Now when local police do something stupid the whole world can find out. Perhaps local government should take that under consideration when instructing their local law enformement.

What a day...
This has certainly been an exciting day in news. It is July 4th, our nations birthday and some big things have happened.
I will call it a tie between NASA being able to smack a space craft into the heart of a comet and get good imaging of the entire event. I bet the Air Force boys are paying attention. Smacking things into other things in outer space with great accuracy seems like something they will be interested in doing in the future.
Also, A committee of United Church of Christ representatives has approved a resolution that moves the church one step closer to becoming the largest Christian denomination to endorse same-sex marriage.
The United Church of Christ is a rather conservative organization, at least all the churches I have ever been in. I would not be surprised if this causes a minor schism. But it is interesting that this group of very conservative people can realize that they should not be excluding a group of people. How long will it take the government to get in step?
